Menu Costing and Pricing Workbook: preview 1

Who it's for

Owners setting prices for a new menu, or checking whether an existing menu is priced to make money.

Good to know

It doesn't track inventory or sales after you open.

Enter what you pay for each ingredient once. Build up to 40 recipe cards from dropdowns, and the workbook works out plate cost, suggested price, rounded menu price and profit per plate. A menu mix tab shows which items earn their spot on the board.

Costs that match how you buy

Enter the pack size and price from your supplier invoice, plus the usable yield after trimming. The workbook converts between pounds, ounces, grams, gallons, cups and each, and warns you when a recipe line uses a unit that doesn't match the ingredient.

Prices from the target you set

Choose your own target food cost percentage per item. The card suggests a price, rounds it the way you like (next quarter, .49 and .99, or whole dollars) and shows the real food cost and profit at that price.

See which items carry the menu

The menu mix tab uses a standard menu-engineering method: items are sorted by how often they sell and how much each one earns, so you know what to promote, reprice or drop.

Questions

Does it work in Google Sheets?

Yes. Upload the .xlsx to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets.

What food cost percentage should I use?

That's your call, based on your prices, portions and market. The workbook lets you set a target per item and shows what each choice does to price and profit.

Is the free menu pricing calculator the same thing?

The free calculator prices one item. The workbook keeps your whole ingredient list and every recipe in one file and shows the menu as a whole.

Can I get a refund?

These are digital downloads, so sales are final once the files are downloaded. If a file will not open or does not match this description, email us and we will fix it or refund you.
